Oakland-based Golden State Warriors are an NBA team beloved by East Bay residents and have won six championships since 1946 when they first joined Basketball Association of America (BAA). Since joining NBA, however, their success has only continued.
The Warriors are well-known for their dynamic duo of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson in their backcourt, who together form one of the most beloved teams in NBA. They boast a strong following across Bay Area communities.
2015-16 was an historic season for the team, winning 73 regular season games without an NBA title to their name. They made history again by making their first playoff appearance since 1975-76 and beating Chicago Bulls in seven games!
Tom Hanks (full name Thomas Jeffrey Hanks), with his everyday hero persona and acting chops makes him an easy choice for lead roles. He majored in drama at California State University Sacramento before spending summers performing with the Great Lakes Shakespeare Festival.
Hanks first made his on-screen debut in a low-budget horror flick called He Knows You’re Alone; after guest starring on Happy Days TV series and director Ron Howard cast him in Splash movie which became an instant success and launched Hanks into fame.
Hanks was an esteemed dramatic actor as well, and Big was an undoubted box office success that established him as a major Hollywood talent – both box office draw and industry player. Hanks would go on to star opposite Meg Ryan in romantic comedies Turner & Hooch and You’ve Got Mail; also portraying astronaut Jim Lovell in Apollo 13; also making appearances as Walt Disney in Saving Mr Banks as well as narration for Beyond All Boundaries documentary featuring animation with archive footage and sensory effects;

The Raiders have become an essential part of regional culture since their initial start-up in 1960. But when Al Davis took over as team owner and head coach in 1967, their reputation really began to flourish under his guidance as they won their inaugural AFL Championship title before going on to reach their first Super Bowl (losing to Green Bay Packers) later in January 1968.
The Raiders remain immensely popular throughout the Bay Area even after moving temporarily to Los Angeles and then back. Their popularity skyrocketed when gangsta rap artist Chuck D wore Raiders gear on the cover of Public Enemy’s It Takes A Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back album.
American comedian Jack Oakie, widely acclaimed as “America’s Joyboy”, became one of the iconic comics during Hollywood’s Golden Age. Born Lewis Delaney Offield in Sedalia, Missouri and moving as a child to Muskogee Oklahoma where he adopted the stage name of his first character Jack Oakie as his stage name; Oakie himself was functionally deaf but utilized lip reading and vibrations to deliver his comedy performances.
